You’ll start inside a single 16×16 chunk. The world beyond the border is closed, and the whole server has to work together to push it back.
The goal
Gather what the current tier needs, contribute it at spawn, then complete the event that unlocks the next area. Each tier ends with one of three things:
- A gate boss to defeat
- A challenge for the community to complete
- A Border Shard to hand in
Complete the tier and the border expands. Keep going until the final dragon fight or until the Start of the World Event.
Get started
You’ll receive a few starter supplies when you first join. Plant the saplings so you can grow more wood while space is limited.
Check what the server needs with:
/contribute— see the current tier’s materials and progress/challenges— see community goals and any active challenges
The contribution post is a barrel at spawn. Right-click it while holding a material to contribute from that stack. Right-click it with an empty hand to hand in everything useful in your inventory.
You can also contribute from anywhere with commands:
/contribute all— hand in everything useful you’re carrying/contribute oak_log— contribute a specific material/contribute oak_log 64— contribute a specific amount/contribute shard— hand in a Border Shard
The post only takes what the tier still needs, so extra materials stay with you. The requirements are fixed when a tier begins; check /contribute to see what’s still needed.
Work together, play your way
Most tier materials come from the Overworld, so you can always help without visiting another dimension. Nether and End materials may appear as the server reaches those places.
You’ll earn points by contributing and taking part in event activities. Check your balance with /points, spend points in /shop, or use /crate to buy a crate. Vault Crates are one way to find Border Shards; quests can sometimes reward them too. Shards are only needed when a tier asks for one.
As the border opens, explore the new ground. You may find villages with questgivers, supply drops, towers, and other events. Keep an eye out for danger, and work together when a boss or timed challenge begins.
A few things to remember
- The border only expands when the tier’s materials and its final event are complete.
- Gate bosses have special abilities and are designed to fight back. Follow the on-screen direction indicator when one is active.
- Your points, gear, builds, and progress belong to this temporary event world. They won’t carry over to the main server.
- Near the end of the event, the border will begin closing. Don’t leave your return trip too late!
